Dicey Cemetery is located in the Dicey Community of Parker County, Texas, about nine miles northeast of Weatherford. In the early 1850s, pioneers began arriving in what is now Dicey Community in covered wagons, on horseback, and sometimes even walking, and carrying all their belongings. They arrived with the hope of making a better life for themselves here in Texas where the land was free and wild. They settled near cool spring waters and felled trees to build log cabins. They hunted deer, squirrels, rabbits, turkeys, quail, and even buffalo. They planted crops to sustain themselves and raised livestock on their farms.

The William Baker Family donated the land for Dicey Cemetery to Clear Fork Baptist Church in 1869. The cemetery began as a pioneer graveyard for members of the Dicey Community, and the oldest known burial is for Mary Pinkerton “Polly” Hartsfield Long, born 1834 and died 1881. Many military veterans are buried at Dicey Cemetery, and their service spanned the Civil War to the Vietnam War.  Texas Ranger Dole Allen Miller was also buried at Dicey Cemetery.

An Historic Texas Cemetery marker was awarded to Dicey Cemetery in 2023, and the placement of the marker is forthcoming.
